5 ways to Save Energy At Home (from Real Simple Magazine)

If you suddenly have less money coming in every month, every penny counts.  Here's some ways to save at home:

1.  Lower your thermostat. You can save 10% on your heating bill.  If you normally keep it at 68, turn it to 10 when you leave the house.

2.  Turn down your water heater.  Standard set is 140..l;ower it to 130 and save 5% of your energy bill at home.

3.  Wash clothes in cold water.  Up to 90% of the energy used to do laundry is to hear the water! Special cold water detergents make it easier for you...and air dry your clothes. Put a line in the basement.

4.  Unplug stuff!  Even if they are turned off ...you can save up to 15% off electrical bill this way! It ads up!

5.  Keep out cold air.  Around windows and doors.  Leaking heat is leaking energy (waste).
